Placido Domingo
Biography
Placido Domingo (in Spanish Placido Domingo) is a Spanish opera singer, tenor of world fame, born on January 21, 1941 in Madrid, in a family of artists.
In 1950, together with his family, he moved to Mexico, where he studied vocal technique, piano and conducting. His first singing experience was as a baritone, and in 1960 he made his debut as a tenor in the role of Alfredo in Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata. For the next three years (1961–1963), Domingo worked at the Israel National Opera, where he gave more than 280 performances in 12 different roles. In 1966 he made his debut at the New York City Opera. In 1968, he made his debut in "Metropolitan". His creative collaboration with this opera continues to this day (season 2006/2007) with a total of over 400 appearances in 42 roles. Performances at La Scala, Milan, Staatsoper, Vienna, Covent Garden, London, the opera houses of Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, Barcelona, ??Madrid, Buenos Aires and others followed. His solo repertoire includes over 60 leading roles.
Domingo recorded and released more than 100 albums of classical opera music, as well as several albums of popular Spanish love songs.
